Pedal angular velocity visualization
One of the new features in Velogic Studio v4 is the ability to visualize how angular velocity of the pedal varies throughout the pedal stroke.
... you'll see a visualization graph overlaid on the Crank Angle scrubber, at the top of the Stroke Analysis video:
In this visualization:
- The horizontal axis represents the crank angle
- The small dots along the horizontal axis represent frames that Velogic Studio has included in the analysis
- The large dot represents the current crank angle being displayed
- The blue graph line is Velogic Studio's measurement of the angular velocity of the pedal at that crank angle, arranged above and below the average.
Usually, you would expect to see a peak or "hump" in the pedal angular velocity during the power phase. In the example above, the power phase appears to be "bimodal", which might be something you would investigate during the fit.
You can use this visualization to understand how the pedal/crank is accelerating or decelerating throughout the stroke. It's particularly effective when you compare this between two captures, to understand the effects of an intervention, and may be interesting to investigate correlation with
ankle flexion.

Ankle Flexion metrics and visualization
Historical: Ankle Angle metrics Historically, Velogic Studio used 7 markers: wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, and toe. From those 7 markers, a range of metrics were calculated; for the foot, this was mainly "Ankle Angle" which is a simple ...
Knee track
As a fitter, it's useful to know what your rider's knee is doing during the pedal stroke. For example, is the knee moving directly up & down, or is it flaring out (away from the frame) at the top of the stroke, possibly indicating hip impingement? Is ...
