Setting your location for find-a-fitter and Frame Comparison ads

Configure your business location to appear on Velogic's find-a-fitter map and Frame Comparison advertising

We're in business to help your business succeed. We want to help your potential customers find your service, and there are a couple of different ways we can do that.

Find-a-fitter (all Velogic Studio users)

Our public site has a "find-a-fitter" page, and so does the Velogic Web Tools site. Customers can use the "Around you" function to locate themselves on a map, and see fitters near them using Velogic Studio.

Frame Comparison ads (Velogic Studio Pro users)

Our free Frame Comparison tool is used by thousands of people every month. We've recently (early 2024) added a small advertisement to the top of this page, which will show Frame Comparison users the location of their closest fitter. Here's how it works:

  1. Someone (hopefully a keen cyclist looking for a new bike) accesses our Frame Comparison tool in their browser, via https://app.velogicfit.com/frame-comparison

  2. Our server notices their IP address, and looks up their approximate location. (This isn't a very accurate location, but should at least tell which country they're in)

  3. Our server looks for a fitter within 1000km of that location who is using Velogic Studio Pro (this is one of the differences between Velogic Studio Essentials and Velogic Studio Pro product levels)

  4. If found, the server will insert a small ad at the top of the Frame Comparison page, like this:

  5. The user can click "Show details" to find basic contact details for the fitter's service:

How to set your location and profile

Before 2024, we were using a third-party shop locator which needed to be manually kept up-to-date. Unsurprisingly, it quickly drifted out-of-date, so we now have a new system which automatically syncs location and profile data which you can control yourself via our app site, app.velogicfit.com.

Here's how:

  1. Go to https://app.velogicfit.com/your-profile (you'll need to sign in if you aren't already)

  2. Fill out the first form, with details which can we use to keep in touch with you

User profile form with fields for personal contact details including name, email, and phone number
  1. Fill out the "Your public profile" form, which we'll use to estimate your location in the next step, and also use to provide details (email and website) in the Frame Comparison ad, if applicable:

Public profile form showing business name, email, website, and address fields for fitter listing
  2. Set your geographic location via the "Your public location" form. You can click "Locate profile address" to set a pin at the location of your address from the last step. If it's not accurate, you can click on the map to reset the pin location, then click "Save"

Geographic location setting interface with interactive map for pinpointing precise business location
  3. Finally, upload an image of yourself or your logo (your face is better, because your customers will form a better connection with a face than with a logo)

Profile image upload section with placeholder for adding fitter photo or business logo

What if you don't want your location to be used for find-a-fitter and/or frame comparison ads?

No problem - simply don't set a location in the "Your public location" form. If you've already set a location but you want to remove it, simply click "Remove location".

What if you don't want to see Frame Comparison ads yourself?

Frame Comparison ads are never served to people who are signed in and who have Velogic Studio subscriptions.

If you're a bike fitter and you're annoyed to see ads for your competition, then we're sorry-not-sorry because these tools are provided for free to the public and frame comparison ads is one small way we can capture some benefit from that for our users. We would love to welcome you aboard as a Velogic Studio user when you're ready.
