Complete guide to customizing and generating professional bike fit reports in Velogic Studio

Velogic Studio has a professionally-designed, full-featured, automatically-generated report. Our users frequently give feedback that this is the "best feature" of Velogic Studio, so let's explore!
The report is generated on Step 3 of the fit process. Once you've completed the bike fit, you can use this step to customize the perfect report for your customer.
These options allow you to control what's included in the report.
Specify whether the report should include a title page & table of contents.
The title page prominently features your own logo (which can be set, along with your brand accent color, in application settings). The brand color is also used throughout the report.
All pages of the report have a common "identity block" on the right-hand side of the page, with a snapshot image of the customer taken at maximum knee extension.
The table of contents simply shows the page number for each page of the report, for quick access.
Note that if you're using the Word fit notes feature (see below), any headings that you use in the fit notes document will also feature in the table of contents.
The commentary page of the report contains your summary notes from the fit, and optionally "general notes" (which are the same for each fit).
There are 2 ways to record your summary notes:
Using the textbox directly below these options. This is useful if you don't take long notes and/or you don't have Microsoft Word on your computer.
Using Microsoft Word.
If you enter summary text directly into the text box in Velogic Studio, the Commentary page of the report will have two columns: your commentary on the left, and general notes (if selected) on the right.
If you choose the Microsoft Word option:
Velogic Studio will automatically create a file called "fit notes.docx" in your fit session folder.
The "fit notes.docx" file will initially contain whatever was in the summary notes textbox. So, if you've already begun keeping notes directly in the textbox, you can "upgrade" to Word and keep what you've already entered. If you haven't yet entered any specific notes for this fit, it will simply be the boilerplate text from settings.
Velogic Studio will try to open the "fit notes.docx" file for you in Microsoft Word automatically. You can keep this window open and enter notes directly in Microsoft Word while you conduct your fit.
If you don't have Microsoft Word installed on your computer, the Wordpad application will be opened. You can use Wordpad to add pictures and formatting to the text; but the experience is not as good as with Microsoft Word.
Whenever the report is generated, it will automatically scrape the content from the "fit notes.docx" file and incorporate it in the report.
Note that you can add images, tables etc to your document in Word, and they'll be copied into your fit report. You can easily incorporate:
Screenshots from any other software you're using in your fit (TIP: use Windows logo key + Shift + S to invoke the Windows Snipping Tool, or consider a tool like SnagIt Editor to easily draw on the screenshot)
Screenshots from any parts of Velogic Studio that aren't already automatically included in the report (e.g. comparisons between positions that aren't initial/final positions)
Voice dictation - save time typing up notes by dictating using Microsoft Word's built-in dictation feature.
If you're using OneDrive to store your fits (which we highly recommend), and you use Office365, you can even open the "fit notes.docx" file on your mobile phone using the mobile version of Microsoft Word. This means you can take photos from your phone and incorporate directly into the document, and you can use the mobile voice dictation features of your phone to dictate directly into your document. OneDrive will sync changes from your phone to your PC, so that they can be incorporated into the Velogic Studio report.
If you've taken measurements with the measurement wand, or entered them manually, the results can be included on the report with these 2 options.
These options allow you to include or exclude specific pages related to Velogic Studio's analysis.
When you add measurements, you have the option to add textual specifications too. If you take multiple measurements, any changes will be highlighted in the second column.
Each image that Velogic Studio captures for the initial and final position can be shown in side-by-side format. Note that you can use multiple webcams placed in multiple positions around the rider, so this can be useful to demonstrate changes from those viewpoints.
These pages show each of the many metrics that are automatically calculate by Velogic Studio.
For each metric, Velogic Studio shows a concise explanation, the initial and final values, and the change between initial & final.
These options control when the report is generated, and whether to automatically save to PDF and/or DOCX when the report is generated:
When set to "Manual", you can click "Generate report" in the actions list on the right-hand side whenever you would like a report generated.
When set to "Automatic", the report will be generated whenever you move into Step 3, and whenever you change the report generation options while in Step 3.
The right-hand side of screen shows additional actions you can take with the report:
"Generate Report", "Save PDF" and "Save DOCX" actions will only be visible if the Report Generation options (above) are set to Manual.
"Zoom In", "Zoom Out", "1 Page", "2 Pages" actions affect how the preview is displayed on-screen.
"Print" sends the report to your printer
"Open Folder" opens the folder containing all artefacts from this fit (videos, images, report, fit notes.docx, fit.session)
"Restart" will close and restart Velogic Studio, ready for the next fit.
Velogic Studio can save the report in .pdf and .docx format:
The .pdf format is useful to send directly to your customer, because their browser/phone/computer will have built-in PDF viewing capability, and they can print it to paper if they wish.
The .docx format allows you to add to the report after the fit, if needed. For example, you might do some research into suitable new bike options - you could do that using Microsoft Word, and generate the PDF manually afterwards.
Important: If you make changes to the .docx version of the report, you should save it with a different filename - so that it's not overwritten if you recreate the report in Velogic Studio
Tip: Instead of editing the report .docx file directly, you might consider using the "Summary from word" feature (see Commentary section above). This will give you a "fit notes.docx" file, into which you can add any extra information (such as bike options), and the content will be automatically incorporated into the report the next time it is generated.
